Discription:
Three one-act plays, NATIONAL
ERECTION, NEAR ESCAPE and NIPPLUS ERECTUS, are tied together
by elements of imagery, style, and social reflection. A truly strange
play, born in reaction to the Regan Revulsion (sic). NATIONAL
ERECTION and NEAR ESCAPE where written in the early 80's dealing
with mind-numbing yuppie conformity and secondary education. NIPPLUS
ERECTUS was completed in 1998. Its subject...sex and politics.
NATIONAL ERECTION
Our hero vegetates to Star Trek's
"The Trouble with Tribbles" in the TV-mat, while a mind spy infiltrates
his libido attempting to transmute his sex drive into powerful complacency.
The spy is caught, but can Clyde Barrow expel it. The naked bronze
bitch comes to life. Groucho gets laid. The blow dryer's roar
becomes the deafening sound of jet engines.
NEAR ESCAPE (or Why Johnny Doesn’t
Need to Read)...
Our hero is attending high-school
drama class with John Lennon, in Texas circa 1980. He is expelled
from school for not choosing a proper career tract. Nixon enters
the ring with Ali, and Yago narks on our hero. Will the Gods intervene?
